These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Coursify (the "Service"), operated by the Coursify team ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The Service
Coursify converts publicly available YouTube videos into structured learning courses using AI. We generate lesson outlines, summary notes, quizzes, module checkpoints, and certificates of completion. The Service is offered on a credits-based model: every course generation consumes credits proportional to the source video's length.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use Coursify. By signing up, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity on your account and for keeping your password secure.
You can sign in with email + password or with a supported third-party identity provider (Google, GitHub). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or remain inactive for an extended period.
3. Credits, Subscriptions & Payments
The Service uses an internal credit system. New accounts receive a small free credit grant on signup. Additional credits can be purchased as one-time top-ups or via a recurring subscription. Payment is processed through our payment provider, Polar; we do not store your card details.
- Credit packages are non-refundable once consumed by a course generation.
- Subscriptions renew automatically on the same day of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel any time from your wallet settings.
- If a course generation fails through our fault, we will refund the consumed credits within 48 hours.
- We may change pricing with 30 days' notice; pricing changes apply only to renewals after the notice period.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Generate courses from content you don't have the right to view (e.g. behind paywalls you haven't paid for).
- Use the Service to redistribute the AI-generated content commercially without retaining attribution to the original video creator.
- Attempt to bypass credit deductions, automate abusive course generation, or scrape the Service.
- Use the Service to create courses that promote illegal activity, harassment, or content that violates YouTube's own community guidelines.
5. Intellectual Property
The source YouTube videos remain the property of their respective creators and are accessed via YouTube's embed player. The AI-generated lesson notes, quizzes, and certificates we produce based on those videos are owned by you for personal learning purposes. The underlying Coursify software, design, and branding are owned by us.
6. Certificates
Certificates issued through Coursify represent your completion of a course on our platform. Each certificate is published at a public verification URL with a cryptographic signature. We do not guarantee third-party recognition of these certificates by employers, educational institutions, or credentialing bodies.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. AI-generated content can contain inaccuracies. You should verify any critical information against authoritative sources before relying on it. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll notify you by email and update the "Effective" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Coursify is operated. Any disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
